Only Child

You claim you're lonely
But all you want is attention
You want all the attention
(but not that kind of attention, not from them)
But then you push everyone away
(because they hate you they don't want to talk to you they realized you were never a good friend)
You push everyone away
And then realize how lonely you truly are
So you come back
And they depend on you
They come to you for
Protection,
Consolation,
Company,
Friendship,
For everything

And you fall back into that easy rhythm
Where they're so dependent
(really you're just the same -
A clingy little bitch who can't walk on her own)
And so when it piles up
When you don't want to go anywhere to talk
Realize you can't trust anyone enough
You

Imitating a strong and unbroken stone wall
And you wonder so many things
It'll get better, it wasn't always like this, was it?
Then you realize you know so much
Like how it feels to be so loved yet so alone
Like how the only way to speak is to write
Like how you'll sink
