The Little Yellow Flower

The Little Yellow Flower

Yellow Flower

The little yellow flower
Swaying in the breeze
Dances to the music
Of the air, the grassy green
The cerulean sky
Sweet waves throughout
A sea of color, its friends
Frolicking and laughing
As the days pass by.

Yet the wind becomes violent
The sky shifting to reveal
An angered face of gray
The little yellow flower
Overcome by terror
Grips its roots
Holding onto its memories
Of a life too short -
Despite exerting all its strength
The little yellow flower
Is torn away from home.

Flung into an unknown
A region of death and dark
The little yellow flower
No longer feels the wind
The laughter of its friends
Whisked away by screams
It cannot feel its roots,
So far away
From its familiar home.

As it lifts, everything
Begins to fade away
Until the flower is at peace
And once more reunited
With its friends above
The roiling, gray sky.

The once peaceful field
Ripples with destruction
As the color, so dull and broken
Searches for what was lost
As the sky calms,
Returning to its bright shade
The wind settles down,
Lazily dusting the land
The little yellow flower
Is nowhere to be found
A hole in its wake,
Its loss is mourned
One questions remains
What could erase
Such a bright light,
With so much time left to live?
